The Studio cabinet bed is made of several types of wood and wood products. A laminate veneer is used overall. The runners are rubber wood. Particle board faced in solid wood is used where fasteners (screws) are used. In some of the larger pieces, a honeycomb core is used. This is a light weight, yet extremely strong and stable material. The honeycomb is framed in solid wood where fasteners (screws) are used. We use the honeycomb core to make the cabinet easier to lift. Honeycomb does not shrink and swell with humidity and temperature changes.

Assembly is required. The drawer/base assembly is completely assembled with the exception of the decorative handles. The upper cabinet needs to be assembled or attached to the base/drawer assembly and the latches and safety chains need to be attached. Cam locks and cam screws are used to assemble and attach the upper cabinet along with a few bolts. Basic tools are needed. These are Phillips head screw driver, power drill and small bore drill bits, rubber mallet, pliers. Shims may be needed on deep carpet or uneven floors. Two people recommended for lifting parts. For average skilled people with power tools assembly should take about two tow three hours.

The bi-fold mattress which is used in the Studio is an innerspring mattress covered in cotton and foam and covered in a natural tick with futon style tufting.
